Should Virat Kohli leave the white ball captaincy?

My straightaway answer is no, but

Where did it started?

It started with The Times of India’s report saying Virat Kohli might step down from the white ball captaincy after T20 World Cup this year to focus more on his batting. The report also says Rohit Sharma will be given the white ball captaincy. Later, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal informs IANS that Virat Kohli will continue as the white ball captain, there is no such discussion about split captaincy also said all such news about split captaincy is just rubbish.

Virat Kohli has been a brilliant batsman and captain but the management and fans want trophies. Virat had captained India in three ICC tournaments, ICC champions trophy final 2017, ICC World cup 2019 semi-final, and World Test Championship 2021 final, lost all three. Virat’s overall record as captain is amazing. Virat Kohli is the first Asian captain to win test series in Australia in 2018. But the question is all about white ball captaincy.

Virat Kohli in ODIs lead India in 95 matches, won 65, and lost 27 In T20Is Virat lead India in 45 matches, won 27, and lost 14

Virat Kohli became the first Asian captain to win Test, ODIs, and T20i series in Australia in 2018-19.

It’s all about winning ICC tournaments, India has been brilliant under Virat’s captaincy. India has won bilateral series all around the world. But when it comes to ICC tournaments we need improvement. I think Virat is eagerly waiting for the T20 World cup this year and it could break the chain, fingers crossed.
