ENG vs WI, T20 World Cup 2021: England beat West Indies by 6 wickets

T20 World Cup 2021, England opted to field first against West Indies. The defending champions West Indies started very poorly, they lost 4 wickets within the powerplay overs (31-4). Simmons (3), Lewis (6), Hetmyer (9), Gayle (13) were the wickets. Chris Gayle showed some of his vintage shots but could not keep the momentum. Bravo (5), Pooran (1), Pollard (6), Russell (0), appalling batting performance from the defending champions.

T20 World Cup 2021: Russell gets bowled

Not even a single batsmen tried to settle down and carry forward the inning, everyone just went for the big shots. Only Chris Gayle managed to get into the double figures (13), which pretty much sums up the inning. All the credits to England came with plans and were implemented brilliantly. Moeen Ali (2 for 17) set up the tone, Adil Rashid (4 wickets for 2 runs) finish things off. England restricted West Indies for just 55 runs.

In response, England also struggled, they lost 3 wickets in powerplay (39-3). This shows England does have some similar issues with their batting, things could have been different if they had been chasing the competitive score. Akeal Hosein (2 for 24) impressed with his bowling. But eventually, a comprehensive win for England, they beat the defending champions by 6 wickets.
