T20 World Cup 2021, -Afghanistan opted to bat first against Scotland. Openers Zazai and M Shahzad gave Afghanistan a solid start of 54 runs. It looked perfect batting wicket as every Afghanistan batter played openly. Afghanistan capitalized the opening stand as Gurbaz (46), Najibullah (59) carry the momentum in the middle overs. Nabi (11) also hit a couple of good hits towards the end and help Afghanistan reach 190-4. Afghanistan hit eleven sixes in their inning, most by the team in T20 World Cup 2021 so far.
The bowling from Scotland was below par, especially at the death overs, they gave 54 runs in the last 4 overs. Mark Watt (1 for 23) in four overs was their best bowler.
In response, Scotland played good cricket in the first three overs. But Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s one over changed the equation completely, he got three wickets. Scotland could not recover from these early blows and they gave up. Mujeeb (5 for 20), Rashid (4 for 9) help Afghanistan beat Scotland comfortably by 130 runs. This loss made it tough for Scotland as they will face Pakistan, New Zealand, India in the upcoming matches.
