Asalanka and Nissanka hold the inning and had a stable partnership before a miscommunication ends up as a run-out. That dismissal changed things completely as Sri Lanka faced a collapse. Nissanka (72) played a precious inning and he was the only one who batted deep and help Sri Lanka reach 142.
South Africa bowled exceptionally, Shamsi (3 for 17) in the middle overs and Pretorius (3 for 17) in the death restricted Sri Lanka under 150.
South Africa had a poor start as they lost De Kock (12), Hendricks (11) within the powerplay (40-2). A bizarre run out of Van Der Dussen (16) puts South Africa under pressure. Bhavuma played the anchor role and South Africa was recovering but the hat-trick from Hasaranga changed the equation completely and puts Sri Lanka ahead in the game. Hasaranga took the wickets of Markram (19), Bhavuma (46), Pretorius (0).
David Miller (23) along with Kagiso Rabada (13) hold the nerve and played a small cameo towards the end. Miller’s two consecutive sixes help South Africa pull the thriller and beat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets.
Sri Lanka bowled beautifully especially Hasaranga (3 for 20) but they panicked and lost the game. This victory for South Africa puts them on the verge of qualifying for knockouts.
