Kolkata Knight Riders beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in a one sided game. Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and choose to bat first, Umran Malik comes in place of Sandeep Sharma. KKR made a change, Shakib replaces Tim Seifert. Toss is the only thing that went into Sunrisers’ way, the very first over they lost W Saha (0). Later Hawkeye shows it to be missing the stumps, unlucky Saha. Roy (10) played a couple of good shots but eventually Shivam Mavi gets him. Huge misjudgment from skipper Williamson (26) as he gets run out. Wickets keep falling and KKR grab the opportunity to stop SRH in a low score and they did it.
Priyam Garg and Abdul Samad build a small partnership but brilliant bowling from KKR gets them under pressure. Sunrisers got to wind up on just 115-8, the worst season for them continues.
KKR bowled brilliantly, Southee, Shivam Mavi, Chakravarthy each got 2 wickets.
KKR needed just 116 runs to win, it could be an easy win for them. Venkatesh Iyer (8) and Rahul Tripathi’s (7) early dismissal gave Sunrisers a little chance to come back but the target wasn’t big so Gill and Rana played sensibly, formed a partnership. They just needed a small partnership to win this game, they added 55 runs.
Eventually, Kolkata Knight Riders easily beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 6 wickets. With a better net run rate of Kolkata Knight Riders if they win their next match, most probably they will qualify for the playoffs.
Shubman Gill gets the player of the match award for his sensible 57 runs.
