T20 World Cup 2021 Aus vs SL, Australia opted to field first against Sri Lanka. After the early wicket of Nissanka (7), Perera (35), and Asalanka (35) set a solid platform for Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka was 78-1 in 10 overs at one stage but poor batting from Sri Lanka and they were 94-5. Rajapaksha (33) played a sensible inning towards the end and help Sri Lanka reach a fighting total of 154-6. Sri Lanka is 20-25 runs short because of the collapse.
Australia’s bowling has been brilliant especially Adam Zampa (2 for 12) who break the partnership between Perera and Asalanka.
The chase was never challenging and Finch and Warner provided a tremendous start of 70 runs in seven overs. Hasaranga traps Finch (37), Maxwell (5) in a bunch but Australia was ahead in the chase. David Warner scored 65 runs off 42 balls, which is a big positive for Australia as he was not performing for a long time. Steven Smith (28) played the anchor role and he will continue to do the same as he is not the striking player. Stoinis (16) played a small cameo towards the end and help Australia beat Sri Lanka comprehensively by 7 wickets with 3 overs to spare.
Bowling from Sri Lanka was very ordinary, Hasaranga (2 for 22) was the only bowler who troubled Australian batters.
