Chennai Super Kings opted to field first, no change for CSK, Tom Curran comes in for Ripal for DC. Delhi had a good start, openers added 36 runs before Hazlewood gets the edge of Dhawan (7). Wickets kept falling but Prithvi Shaw played a tremendous knock. But a poor shot from Shaw (60) finishes his inning. Delhi Capitals were 80-4, they needed a solid inning from the skipper.
Hetmyer and Pant formed a wise knock, they added 83 runs and help DC recover from 80-4. Pant (51) and Hetmyer (37) help Delhi reach a competitive score of 172-5.
CSK’s bowlers did magnificent work. Hazlewood 2 for 29, Jadeja 1 for 23, Bravo 1 for 31, and Moeen Ali 1 for 27.
Delhi Capitals have a variety of bowling options and chasing 173 in a pressure game won’t be easy for CSK. Chennai got a big blow of Faf in the very first over. Robin Uthappa played an exceptional knock which puts pressure back on DC.
Ruturaj Gaikwad played wisely, when Uthappa was attacking, he was rotating the strike. Ruturaj and Uthappa added 110 runs. Three quick wickets of Uthappa (63), Thakur (0), Rayudu (1) bring some panic in CSK’s dressing room. But Vintage MS Dhoni scored 18 runs off just 6 balls and CSK win the thriller by 4 wickets. With this victory, CSK is in their 9th IPL final.
Delhi’s bowling was so ordinary, they could have tested Ruturaj and Uthappa with the bouncers. Also giving last over to Tom Curran with Rabada still have one over left cost the game for DC. Tom Curran was their best bowler today, he got 3 wickets for 29 runs.
Ruturaj Gaikwad gets the player of the match award for his match-winning knock of 70 runs off just 50 balls.
