Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and choose to field first, both teams playing with the same side. Sunrisers Hyderabad is playing for their pride.
Bad start yet again for Sunrisers Hyderabad as Abhishek Sharma (13) gets out. Skipper Williamson and Jason Roy formed a 70 runs partnership to revive SRH but the purple cap holder Harshal Patel gets the skipper (31). Sunrisers was not able to carry on the momentum they got from that 70 runs partnership, the problem they faced throughout the campaign.
Regular wickets kept falling of SRH but they somehow managed to get the team score to 141-7. Roy (44) was the highest run-scorer for Sunrisers Hyderabad followed by Williamson (31). Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bowling has been exceptional, Harshal got 3 wickets, Christian got 2 wickets.
In response, RCB lost their skipper Virat Kohli (5) in the very first over. Followed by Christian (1) and Srikar (12), RCB were 38-3, and then came the in-form Maxwell. Maxwell was outstanding in this season for RCB, scored 40 off just 25 balls before a mind-blowing direct hit from Williamson gets him out.
A slow and struggling inning from Padikkal comes to an end. Going for the big shot, scored 41 runs off 52 balls. Shahbaz Ahmed came and scored quick 14 runs and released the pressure from De Villiers. But eventually, 13 runs were needed in the last over for RCB to win. Bhuvneshwar Kumar defends 13 runs and leads Sunrisers Hyderabad to a 4 runs victory.
With this loss, RCB cannot finish in the top 2 spots considering DC and CSK have better positive NRR.
Kane Williamson gets the player of the match award for 31 runs and an outstanding runout of Maxwell which eventually turned out to be a game-changer.
